KABUL (Pajhwok): At least four Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel were killed and eight others wounded in a fresh suicide attack in the capital Kabul on Thursday morning, an official said.
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said three ANA officials were killed and eight others wounded in the incident that took place in Doghabad area of the 7th police district.
But Brig. Gen. Humayon Aini, in charge of the 119 police helpline, confirmed the death of four soldiers and injuries to eight others in the suicide attack, the second in as many days.
Istiqlal Hospital Director Dr. Ali Eishan said they had received six wounded soldiers in stable condition. He added some of them had already been discharged after being administered medical treatment.
Police spokesman Hashmatullah Stanikzai said the attacker on foot targeted an ANA bus.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that dozens of Afghan forces had been killed and wounded.
A day earlier, seven Afghan soldiers were killed and 21 others wounded in two separate suicide attacks in Kabul, where President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai has vowed to monitor the security situation.
