KUNDUZ CITY: Government offices and powerful people in norther Kunduz province do not pay electricity bills, an official alleged on Saturday

Breshna Shirkat Director Eng. Hamidullah told Pajhwok Afghan News that government servants and influential individuals had refused to pay 100 million afghanis in electricity bills.
He estimated the number of defaulters at 3,000, saying his department had urged security officials several times to force them into clearing the dues, but to no avail.
Police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussain confirmed receiving orders from the department against those who did not paid electricity bills. But he said defaulting individuals or government organs had not been identified.
Meanwhile, department officials said an increase has been noticed in their revenue. Hamidullah viewed the surge as a positive sing. He made clear electricity bills would collected from everyone, irrespective of their status.
