KABUL (Pajhwok): A regional cricket tournament, involving five squads, got under way at the Kabul International Stadium on Sunday, organisers said.
Outfits from Miss Ainak, Band-i-Amir, Bost, Amu and Spinghar zones are participating in the 41-day event, a spokesman for the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said.
Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News that ACB chief Shahzada Masood declared the tournament open. Masood described the contest as a welcome initiative to promote the game in the country.
ACB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Noor Mohammad Murad urged media outlets to accord appropriate coverage to the board-sponsored tournament, involving four-day matches.
