FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): An intelligence officer was gunned down in an attack in western Farah province, officials said on Friday.

Unidentified gunmen fired at Asadullah Zalal, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) deputy chief for Farah, on his way home from office in the third police district.

The provincial police spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News the attackers managed to flee the spot after the overnight incident. But security personnel are looking for the attackers.

NDS Director Gen. Najibullah also verified the incident, which came two days after the killing of three policemen in an attack on their checkpoint in Farah City.
