MPs visit Bamyan to assess women’s problems

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): A parliamentary delegation has been in central Bamyan province to assess problems facing women, an official said on Saturday.

Nafisa Azimi, the women’s affairs director, said the MPs aimed to understand what problems Bamyan women faced and then inform the president about those problems.

She said once the problems were assessed, the government would be in a position to resolve them.

Among others problems, she said, non-availability of hostel for around 600 girl students in the Bamyan University was shared with the visiting delegation. 

She said most women in the province were associated with agriculture and livestock and educated women should be offered opportunities to work in government and private departments as well.

Ruhollah Farogh, Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Organisation head for Bamyan, said women had earned awareness about their rights and more improvement would come with the passage of time.
