KABUL thrashed the hosts to score their third triumph on the trot in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-16 Elite Cup in Qatar on Saturday, an official said.
Qatar, electing to bat after winning the toss, were bundled out for a paltry 61 at Mesaieed on Day 3 of the event. Mohammad Sabir and Qais captured three wickets each for the national side in the 40 overs match.
The Afghans raced to the target in the seventh over for the loss of only one wicket, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News. Afghanistan will take on Nepal on Oct. 28.
The weeklong event began on October 22 in Doha. Organised by the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA), the 40-overs-a-side contest features under-16 teams from Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Iran, Kuwait and Qatar.
The matches are being played at the Mesaied Industrial City Ground and the West End Park Stadium. Two games are played daily, the first one beginning at 9 am and the second at 3pm.
