KABUL’s Board’ would be soon created to work for resolving problems facing the gender, an official said on Thursday.

The announcemet was made at a gathering of hundreds of women coming all the way from various provinces to Kabul at invitations by the Afghan Women Network (AWN) to discuss how to resolve their problems.

AWN director Hasina Safit told Pajhwok Afghan News the board’s creation was based on suggestions from female civil society activists and the body had previously been approved by President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.

She said based on the president’s orders, the 30-member board should have professional individuals for the five-year term.

She said a list of the board’s nominees would be prepared within next 10 days and then shared with the president to choose right persons. The panel would be created over the two next months, she announced.

According to the board’s statute, its members would be independent and would not represent any other organizations and all would work voluntarily without any privileges.

Members of the proposed board would meet the president every one month to share their problems with him.
