KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has praised the national under-19 and under-16 cricket squads for their latest achievements and wished them more success in future.
Members of the two teams were called on Ghani at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday evening, a statement from his office said on Wednesday.
“You have brought Afghanistan a great pride and made the Afghans hold their heads high with your achievements,” the president told the young men.
He encouraged the cricketers and hoped they would be able to bring home more laurels and return triumphant from foreign tours.
On Oct 31, the Afghan U-19 side clinched their three-match series against Pakistan. A day before that, defending champions Afghanistan retained the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-16 Elite Cup title in Qatar.
