Eye-dental ward opens at FMIC

KABUL (Pajhwok): An eye and dental ward was inaugurated on Saturday at the French Medical Institute for Children in Kabul during a ceremony attended by Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah.

Besides Abdullah, the ceremony was also attended by acting Public Health Minister Suraya Dalil, the French Ambassador in Kabul, representatives of the Agha Khan Foundation and officials of the children’s hospital.

Dalil said the new ward had been established at a cost of $475,000 provided by France in aid.

She said internationally trained persons would be appointed at the eye and dental care ward.

Dr. Abdullah Fahim, the hospital’s acting head, told Pajhwok Afghan News international standard facilities would be available at the eye and dental department. He said the department would also have optical shops.

He also said four special dentists and the required equipment had been made available for dental service.

CEO Abdullah thanked France for adding the eye and dental department to the children’s hospital.

The French Medial Institute for Children (FMIC), a not-for-profit hospital, has been operational in Kabul since 2005.
