QALAT/KABUL (Pajhwok): Three Afghan National Army (ANA) service members and four insurgents have been killed during separate incidents in various parts of the county, sources said on Sunday.
The four insurgents were killed on Saturday night during a clash with Afghan security forces in the Arghandab district of southern Zabul province, the district chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Haji Momand Nasratyar said the clash took place in the Hazarkhel area, where a group of insurgents had been planning to attack local police. However, acting on intelligence reports, security forces ambushed the insurgents, killing four of them.
The ensuing clash lasted three hours, leaving a fifth rebel and an ANA soldier injured, he said.
Meanwhile, security officials said two ANA soldiers were injured during an attack by insurgents in the Shah Joy district a day earlier.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Defence said three ANA soldiers were lost to roadside bomb attacks in various parts of the country over the past 24 hours.
