New PC members take oath in 3 provinces

TIRINKOT/PUL-I-ALAM/AIBAK (Pajhwok): The newly-elected provincial council members were sworn-in on Sunday in their respective Uruzgan, Logar and Samangan provinces.

Logar acting governor Niaz Mohammad Amiri congratulated the PC members on assuming office, urging them to give resolution to people’s problems a priority.

The council members had promised to will work hard to ensure good governance and eradicate administrative corruption.

During the oath-taking ceremony in central Logar province, an individual lobbed a hand grenade into the gate of the governor’s house, leaving three policemen injured.

The incident happened at around 11:00 am. Police arrested the attacker after he tried to enter the governor’s house and recovered a pistol from him, police chief Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.

In central Uruzgan province, the oath-taking ceremony for the newly-elected provincial council members was held in Tirinkot, the provincial capital, acting Governor Amanullah Taimur said.

Obaidullah Barakzai, a member of the Wolesi Jerga, asked the PC members to strive hard and serve the people in the best way possible.

Meanwhile, nine new PC members took oath of office at a special ceremony held at the governor’s house in northern Samangan province.

New member Syed Safiullah Hashami said they would work shoulder-to-shoulder with the unity government to ensure that good governance prevailed and corruption was eliminated.
