FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A newly-constructed hostel for girls was on Wednesday inaugurated on the university campus in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said.
The three-storey building has 33 rooms, a solar electricity system and other modern facilities, the university chancellor, Khesraw Nazari, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Having the capacity to accommodate 250 students, the hostel building cost 53 million afghanis funded by Germany and took two years to complete, he said.
Janan Gul, one of the students, said before they lived in rented rooms which had been expensive and far away from the university.
Badakhshan University has more than 2,000 students, with females constituting 40 percent of them.
Elsewhere, a new building housing Da Afghanistan Bank’s branch was inaugurated in the capital of southwestern Nimroz province on Wednesday.
Mohammad Naeem Saeedi, head of branch head in Zaranj, told Pajhwok that the new two-storey building cost 15 million afghanis.
