KABUL (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani strongly condemned a suicide attack targeting a celebrated female lawmaker in the central capital Kabul on Sunday.
The outspoken Wolesi Jirga member, Shukria Barakzai, was slightly injured in the car suicide bombing that left three bystanders dead and 22 others wounded in the Darul Aman area.
President Ghani in a statement said the attack on Barakzai car was a terrorist and un-Islamic act.
Ghani ordered a deep investigation into the incident. The statement said the condition of Shukria Barakzai was stable.
Barakzai is a women‘s rights advocate and a close ally of Ghani, who appointed her to help choose a new Cabinet after he took office in late September.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
