KABUL in return for bringing reforms and improvement to government departments.
Presiding over a Cabinet meeting here, Abdullah said the Independent Joint Anti-Corruption Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (MEC)’s recommendations had been effective in ensuring good governance and fighting corruption.
However, he said only 50 percent of the recommendations had been implemented. “I urge all the government agencies to seriously implement the MEC recommendations in line with the Constitution.”
The CEO said people were expecting reforms in government agencies, something the unity government had promised to them and donors.
The meeting also reviewed the country’s security situation, with Abdullah condemning Sunday’s suicide attack on MP Shukria Barakzai.
The attack killed three civilians and injured 22 others, including the lawmaker, on the Dar-ul-Aman area of Kabul city.
President Ashraf Ghani has also condemned the attack on Barakzai as inhuman and un-Islamic, ordering a deep probe.
