Zakhilwal inaugurates new audit, accounts depart

KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Finance Minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal inaugurated a new audit and accounts department in the Ministry of Finance on Sunday.

Talking after inauguration ceremony, Zakhilwal said the centre would help boost policy making of the ministry and training of professional accountants and auditors.

He added the ministry would become a member of International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) through the department.

Lack of professional auditors and accountants, he said was a major reason for graft in the government departments, he remarked. He went on to say that absence of separate audit department caused the government to lose major international investments.
