KUNDUZ (Pajhwok): At least six insurgents, including two of their notorious commanders, were killed on Tuesday in cleanup operation on Kunduz-Takhar Highway, provincial police chief said.
Maj. Gen. Mustafa Mohsini told Pajhwok Afghan News the anti-militants offensive was underway since Monday.
Two insurgents’ commanders Qari Salim and Qari Bilal were killed in the ensuing battle with the security forces, he added.
Seven villages were cleared of insurgents and operations were still underway in Kata Khail, Shurabi and Chenzai villages, he informed.
People complained that insecurity and armed robbery were on the rise on the highway and they did not feel safe to travel.
