MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Police said on Thursday two policemen and a civilian had been found dead after their abduction in the Pashtunkot district of northeastern Faryab province.
Faryab police chief Col. Mohammad Naeem Andarabi told Pajhwok Afghan News the two policemen had been kidnapped by insurgents from Ghormach district about a month back and their dead bodies were found on Thursday.
He said the policemen had been strangled to death by twisting a rope around their necks. He said an investigation into the incident had been opened and efforts were being made to arrest the killers. The slain policemen identified as Mohammad Naeem and Abdul Aziz were cousins.
Andarabi said police had found another body of an old man named Abdul Rassoul in Pashtunkot. The deceased, a local businessman, was on his returning from Mazar-i-Sharif when he was kidnapped and killed by unknown armed men.
