8 militants dead in Nangarhar drone strike

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Eight militants were killed in a US drone strike in the Sherzad district of eastern Nangarhar province on Monday, the police spokesman said.

Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News that the missile strike targeted a guerrilla hideout in the Surkot locality of the district at around 1:00pm.

A notorious militant commander, Zarqavi, was among the dead, he added. All the dead insurgents were armed, he said.

Qari Sabib, a resident of the locality, said the missile strike left nine militants dead. He added the room of the house struck was destroyed. However, militants have not yet commented on the incident.
