KABUL Cup to be played next year in Australia and New Zealand, the game’s regularity authority announced on Monday.
Afghanistan Cricket Board’s spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the 30-man squad was picked after a thoroughly assessment by selectors of the players having gone through rigorous training sessions.
ACB Chief Executive Officer Dr. Noor Mohammad Murad said the final 15-man World Cup squad would be drawn from the initial team on the basis of their performance, experience and ability.
“Our aim is not participation in the World Cup only but to pose a challenge to the world’s best sides,” Murad said.
The preliminary squad is: Mohammad Nabi Issakhel, Nawroz Mangal, Osman Ghani, Javed Ahmadi, Afsar Zazai, Asghar Stanikzai, Samiullah Shinwari, Shafiqullah Shafaq, Mirwais Ashraf, Gulbadin Naib, Hamid Hassan, Shahpur Zadran, Daulat Zadran, Izzatullah Daulatzai, Aftab Alam, Farid Malak, Najib Zadran, Nasir Jamal, Sharfuddin Sharf, Mohammad Shehzad Mohammadi, Karim Sadiq, Shabir Noori, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Yamin Ahmadzai, Hamza Hotak, Najibullah Tarakai, Fazl Niazi, Mohammad Mujtaba, Noor Ali Zadran and Rahmat Shah.
