MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): A jailbreak attempt has been frustrated in central Kapisa province, local authorities claimed on Wednesday.
Nasir Ahmad Malakzada, in charge of the main prison here, told Pajhwok Afghan News the inmates wanted to dig up a tunnel.
But jail guards took timely action to thwart the bid, the official said, adding all those involved in the plot had been referred to prosecutors.
About 300 inmates are currently being held at the Kapisa prison, which is housed in a rented building. The jail does not have its own building.
