KABUL (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday met visiting Pakistani Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif, who arrived on an announced trip in Kabul.
Gen. Raheel was in Kabul to hold talks with the president on issues of terrorism in the wake of a recent Peshawar school massacre, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
During the meeting, Ghani condemned the deadliest attack on the army-run school on Warsak road, which left 141 people, including 132 students, dead.
The president stressed that time was ripe for decisive action against militancy. He noted both Afghanistan should earnestly decide to eradicate terror.
Gen. Sharif said Pakistan wanted to arrest and prosecute the elements involved in the school assault as soon as possible, according to the statement.
Both dignitaries reiterated their resolve to take concerted action against miscreants and bolster bilateral communication between the two militaries.
