KABUL needed international assistance to resolve its problems.
During a meeting at his office, the president won an assurance of support for the national unity government from a US Senate delegation. The US would help the new government in Kabul to achieve its long-term goals, the senators promised.
Ghani praised American assistance to the war-torn country, saying he remained committed to cooperation with the United States. “We have identified our problems and have solutions. In this area, we need foreign support.”
Enhanced bilateral cooperation, the peace process in Afghanistan, its economic problems, water management and regional cooperation also came up for discussion at the meeting, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
