KABUL, media reports said on Friday.

On Friday morning, eight militants, including a local Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander, were killed in the Ziarat district of Balochistan province.

One newspaper quoted a security official as saying that the operation was conducted in Chotair area. Security forces also seized arms and ammunition from the militants.

In the northwest, 18 members of a banned outfit were killed during a clash with security personnel in the tribal region of Khyber. Several rebel hideouts were destroyed in the Bara offensive, Geo News said.

The private TV channel said an Uzbek militant commander, Islamuddin, was among the dead. The terrorists’ bodies were evacuated to a hospital in Jamrud sub-district.

In the same agency, 32 terrorists were killed by security forces in an ambush in Tirah valley as they headed toward the Afghan border, the military said.

Another four Taliban, including a key commander identified as Abid Muchhar, were killed in a raid in the port city of Karachi, Dawn said. Paramilitary soldiers went to carry out the raid in Musharraf Colony when they were attacked with five hand-grenades and gunfire.

In return fire from the security forces, Abid Muchhar and three of his associates were killed. He is said to have been involved in bombings and suicide attacks in Karachi.
