MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): A 16-year old girl was raped by a man, member of a an armed group, in the Nijrab district of central Kapisa province, an official said on Thursday.
Saifora Kohistani, director of women‘s affairs, told Pajhwok Afghan News six gunmen first set a house on fire and then one of them raped the girl. However, she did not explain why her home was torched.
However, she demanded the authority conduct a thorough inquiry into the dastardly act. The girl, she said, was in hospital for medical treatment.
Syed Agha, a resident of Kalan Dara locality, said there were rumours that local police were involved. Officials acknowledged the rape case took place but vehemently denied the involvement of police.
