KHOST CITY/GARDEZ/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three policemen and seven insurgents have been killed in different security incidents in southeastern Paktia, Khost and eastern Nangarhar provinces, officials said Sunday.
Maj. Gen. Zalmai Oryakhel, Paktia police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News two policemen were killed and another wounded when a police patrol party came under bomb attack in Gardez City, the provincial capital.
In Nangarhar, a similar attack occurred targeting a police vehicle, leaving a policeman dead in Ghanikhel district of the province, the governor’s spokesman said.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai confirmed one policeman died and another wounded in the attack. In Khost, officials said that seven militants, including their commanders, were killed in cleanup operations in Sabryo district.
In a statement from the governor’s house, officials said insecurity of the district was extremely deteriorated three years back but the locality had now back on track in terms of law and order.
Four children and a woman were injured when a bomb blast occurred in Khalbisat bazaar of the provincial capital. However, militants have not yet spoken on the incidents.
