MAHMUD RAQI/GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): US drone strike killed five rebels, including a leading commander, in central Kapisa province, an official said on Sunday.
Deputy police chief Abdullah Talwar told Pajhwok Afghan News the drone attack took place Saturday evening in the Afghani locality of Nijrab district.
Abu Bahar, a Taliban commander, was among the slain militants. He was involved in several high profile attacks on security forces, he added.
Separately, a midwife and her husband were shot dead mysteriously inside their house in Ghazni City, the provincial capital, Shafiq Nang, the governor spokesman, said.
He said the incident took place at the Mangor locality on Saturday night. Police started investigating the case.
