FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Clashes between security forces and insurgents have taken a toll on civilians in the Charsadda district of western Ghor province, residents complained on Sunday.
According to residents, two civilians were injured after the clashes erupted on Saturday night. The clashes occurred when police and army forces on their way to Ferozkoh were ambushed by militants.
Mohammad Tariq, a resident told Pajhwok Afghan News the clashes continued for several hours in Khufak and Khunia villages. A rocket hit a home and injured a woman and a child.
He said many more houses were also damaged in the fighting. “They should avoid harming civilians during such clashes.”
Acting Governor Sayed Anwar Rahmati confirmed the residents were affected but said the insurgents were responsible for it. He said two fighters were killed and three more wounded in the fighting.
Five security forces personnel were also wounded. However, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, said security the security forces had suffered eight casualties.
Charsadda is among the insecure districts that fell to the Taliban four months back for a short period of time. It was retaken by Afghan forces.
