JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three security personnel and four insurgents have been killed in separate incidents of violence in eastern parts of the country, officials said on Monday.
Three rebels were killed in a US drone strike in the Chaparhar district of Nangarhar province late on Friday, police spokesman Hazrat Husain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said no civilian causalities had been reported in the drone strike that targeted a car carrying the militants.
Separately, two engineers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) were killed as a result of a roadside bombing in Ghanikhel district, a statement from the governor’s office said.
Elsewhere, notorious Taliban commander Yousaf Alishangi was killed and two others were wounded during a clearing operation in Laghman province, said the governor’s spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak.
He added security forces launched the Khyber 31 offensive in the morning in Shamkat and Qaltak localities of Alishang district.
One Afghan Local Police member was killed and another wounded during the clash, he added. Taliban have not yet commented on the incidents of violence.
