Protestors in Kabul call for sacking of Ghazni governor

KABUL activists and culturists on Friday staged a protest in Kabul against growing insecurity in the country, particularly in southern Ghazni province

Stressing the need for better security of civilians and their properties, the protestors called for the sacking the officials concerned, including the Ghazni governor.

A civil society activist, Hadi Daryabi who issued a seven-point declaration, told Pajhwok Afghan News they were rallying for peace and an end to “pro-Taliban politics”.

He also opposed the government’s description of human killers as armed opponents, seeking concrete action against the enemies of the innocent people.

Daryabi urged the Afghan National Army (ANA) to launch a clearing operation across Ghazni and purge all its districts of Taliban and Islamic State fighters. 

He accused the governor of Ghazni and other local officials of involvement in corruption and aiding the militants to promote their personal interests.

He added that the government of national unity, with the votes of the people there and the leaders of the government, the armed opposition and political dissident brother not addressed because the enemies have always been involved in the killing of civilians and the innocent.
He added that, if the government fails to forward the existing problems and their demands were not addressed, they will expand their protests.

He added that at present, in most districts of the country, Afghan security forces are not present and should rule, these forces spread all over the country.

Nawroz Sultani, another participant, said: “The security situation has lately deteriorated in several provinces, particularly in Ghazni. We, therefore, want the government to act decisively to enforce security.” 

Bahara Sharifi, who also took part in rally, asked the national unity government to come up with a clear stance on intensifying insurgent attacks across the country. Afghan security forces had no presence in several districts, she claimed.
