LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen on Saturday shot dead a police check-post commander in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province, an official said.
The incident happened at around 12:00 noon in Safyan locality, police spokesman Col. Farid Ahmad Obaid told Pajhwok Afghan News.
After the killing of SS Ahmad Shah, in charge of the check-post, police launched a search for the attackers, who managed to escape.
But another security official, who wished not to be named, said that Shah was buying food items from a nearby shop when unknown assailants attacked him.
