HERAT CITY/SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): One policeman and two civilians were killed in separate incidents of violence in different parts of the country, officials said on Wednesday.
One police official was killed and another wounded in the morning when Taliban attacked a security personnel convoy in western Herat province.
Gen. Juma Adil, the 4th zone border police commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News said the incident took place in Khush Rabat area on police convoy.
The convoy was heading to Herat City, the provincial capital. He said security forces cordoned off the area and mounted a search for the assailants.
Elsewhere, one civilian was killed and a second injured during an overnight Taliban attack on a police check-post in the Balghali locality of Sar-i-Pul City.
Police officer Syed Naqibullah Sadat said the slain individual helped police repulse the attack, which left two insurgents injured.
Separately, a man was gunned down in Balkhab district, said Sadat. Police have arrested the alleged killers with weapons.
