7 dead, 12 hurt in Herat traffic mishap

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Seven persons were killed and 12 others wounded in a traffic mishap in western Herat on Herat- Kandahar Highway on Friday, an official said.

The accident took place at around 6: 00 am near Shindand district of the province, Eng. Faramoorz, the town’s administrative chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.  

The passenger van was heading toward Kandahar from Herat when it overturned near Aziz Abad locality of the district. Seven persons, including a woman, were confirmed dead while 12 others wounded, he added.

After the tragic accident, a number of residents of the locality staged a protest and demanded action against the officials of the transport company.
