FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Police in western Farah province impounded a truck and recovered 1,080 liters of acid and detained the driver and his associate, an official said on Monday.
Acting Police Chief Col. Dilbar Jan Khakrezi said the acetic anhydride brand acid had been recovered from a truck parked in front of the building of intelligence department in Farah City, the provincial capital.
The liquid is usually smuggled from Iran to Afghanistan for onward transportation to different areas. The liquid is used in drugs and bomb making purposes, he added.
Counter Narcotics Director Gulab Suri Nasib said the detained individuals were the citizens of Pushtroad and Balablook districts. He said the price of one liter acetic anhydride is around $100.
