KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): A third X-ray and laboratory ward was opened at the Mirwais hospital in southern Kandahar province on Monday, an official said.
At the inauguration ceremony, director of the hospital Dr. Daud Farhad told Pajhwok Afghan News the hospital had already two wards of X-ray and laboratory.
He said most of the patients and injured people were being brought to the facility.
Therefore, the third department was added to the hospital at a cost of $155,000 funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Dr. Farhad said the addition would expedite treatment and diagnosing diseases.
The hospital’s data reveals security personnel sustaining injuries in daily clashes and victims of traffic accidents are brought to the hospital in addition to those suffering from various diseases.
The facility generally house 380 patients, but their number increases to 450 in emergency situations.
