KABUL Cup.
The national side is making its debut in the mega event jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Afghanistan will play their opening match against Bangladesh on April 18.
Massoud said Afghanistan were among cricket teams which had made it to the ICC World Cup in a short time despite being under-resourced.
The former ACB chief said Afghanistan players had good abilities and they had proven they could play well against the world’s best sides.
About the warm-up encounter between Afghanistan and India, Massoud said the Afghans had played well in that game.
“India are playing cricket for the last 100 years and they have all modern day equipment and facilities. While Afghanistan have been in the field for the last only one decade and they had achieved big gains in a short span of time.”
The former ACB chief said Afghanistan’s participation in the World Cup alone was a big achievement and a matter of pride.
He said the Afghan team was weaving their country’s flag along with those of 13 other countries on international grounds, something that earned Afghanistan a good name.
Massoud hoped the national side would make an impact at the World Cup and would bring home more laurels.
