KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Director of Mirwais Hospital in southern Kandahar province on Saturday said that 7,451 patients who suffered injuries in fighting, bombings and accidents were treated in the hospital in 2014.
Dr. Mohammad Farhad told Pajhwok Afghan News as many as 1,056 wounded, including 19 children were brought to the hospital out of which 215 succumbed to their injuries.
He said the number of people got injured by gun shots were 868 out of which 303 lost their lives due to severe injuries.
He informed that 5,527 people, including, 311 children, got injured in traffic accidents, 148 of whom died in the hospital and the rests were successfully treated.
Dr. Farhad said 20 percent of the injured who recovered had lost their legs or hands. He said Mirwais Hospital provided health services in the southern zone of the country with injured from Helmand, Zabul, Uruzgan and other province were brought into the facility for treatment.
