MAIMANA/SHIBRGHAN (Pajhwok): Five women have been killed in a bomb blast in northwestern Faryab province while two men lost their lives in a traffic accident in northwestern Jawzjan province, officials said Saturday.
Maj. Sayyed Gharib, police chief for Garziwan district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the bomb planted near the upraising members’ check post, which exploded this morning and caused casualties among women.
The upraising members had joined militants and they planted a bomb in their post to blow up policemen instead, he added.
Sibghatullah Silab Mulavizada, the provincial council member, said that 10 of uprising members along with their weapons had joined Taliban.
Separately, two people were died and three others wounded as a result of car accident in Jawzjan province.
The accident took place when a speeding Corolla car hit a wall on the outskirts of Shiberghan, the province’s capital, operation commander Col. Abdul Manan Raufi said.
He said that wounded were in critical condition and evacuated to Shiberghan Civil Hospital for treatment.
