KABUL, BBC Urdu reported.
Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a Tehreek-i-Taliban splinter group, identified the commander as Maulana Shakeel Ahmed Haqqani, alias Qari Shakeel.
He was killed along with Dr Tariq Ali, alias Abu Obaidah al-Islamabadi, the group said, blaming the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) for their deaths.
According to the BBC report, the two men were killed in Nangarhar. Maulana Haqqani was a key commander of Jamaat-al-Ahrar who had been blamed for high-profile attacks in Mohmand agency.
