GHAZNIC CITY (Pajhwok): A former district chief for Qarabagh district has been killed by Taliban militants in southern Ghazni province, an official said Saturday.
Shafiq Nang, the governor’s spokesman, said that Mohammad Hassan Faizi — also a tribal elder — was gunned down soon after disembarking from his car in the main district bazaar.
Shafiq Nang told Pajhwok Afghan News that Faizi was shot dead with a silenced pistol. The killer managed to escape.
A resident of Qarabagh district, Abdullah, said Faizi was shot dead by two motorcyclists who managed to escape after the attack.
Faizi served as district chief for Qarabagh about two years ago. He was a tribal elder and had also contested the April 5 provincial council elections.
