MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) inaugurated a branch in central Maidan Wardak province on Saturday, an official said.
Acting Governor Abdul Majid Khogyani, deputy head of ACCI Khan Jan Alokozai, some lawmakers, businessmen, governmental officials and private sector representatives attended the opening ceremony.
The acting governor welcomed the ACCI branch opening in the province, hoping local traders would invest in mine extraction, agriculture and livestock. The branch will promote trade in the province.
Alokozai said ACCI served as bridge between the government and the private sector. In the near future, the chamber plans to open its offices in 10 more provinces.
He added former provincial council head Muhammad Rafi Wardak would serve as acting director of the branch before elections for the administrative board were held.
Two lawmakers from Maidan Wardak — Abdul Majid Wardak and Obaidullah Kalimzai — welcomed the inauguration of the branch and pledged all possible cooperation with the ACCI.
