GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Taliban militants have freed nine of the 10 passengers they kidnapped in southern Ghazni province on Sunday, an official said.
Acting Governor Ahmad Ali Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the kidnap incident took place in Qarabagh district in the afternoon.
He said the militants kidnapped the men travelling in Corolla cars from Kabul to Jaghori area. The rebels stopped the two cars and seized the passengers.
Five of the captives were released half an hour later, and the remaining four before evening, the acting governor said.
He believed the Taliban might have recovered an employment card from the only person still in their custody. Security forces are combing the area.
Some three weeks back, 31 passengers were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in Zabul province. The fate of the passengers remains unknown.
