KABUL (Pajhwok): The national unity government is pursuing the peace process with the support of neighbouring and regional countries, the deputy chief executive officer said on Saturday.
Addressing a Nawroz flag-hoisting ceremony in the Jamal Mina area of the capital, Mohammad Mohaqiq insisted that determined and sincere efforts were being made to strengthen peace and stability.
In the past, he recalled, there had been allegations about meddling from some neighbours in Afghanistan’s affairs, but the new government had taken steps to build trust and remove misunderstandings.
Based on its new approach, the Afghan government accorded immense importance to the role the neighbours could play in promoting the reconciliation campaign, he observed.
While seeking peace with different insurgent groups, the deputy CEO added, Kabul was doing all it could to boost its relations with the world, particularly with regional countries.
Mohaqiq urged neighbours to cooperate with Afghanistan in achieving peace. “We need to be careful in integrating with the world at large and moving toward peace and stability.”
In quest of peace with the Taliban and Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have grown improved.
