TALOQAN/QALAT (Pajhwok): Eight policemen were wounded in three different incidents in Takhar and Zabul provinces on Saturday, officials said.
Six injured policemen were evacuated to the Qalat Civil Hospital, a public health official told Pajhwok Afghan News. One policeman was wounded in a bomb blast in Qalat and four others in similar in Shahr-i-Safa.
Separately, unknown gunmen attacked a police check-post in the Dasht Qala district of Takhar province. Two policemen were injured in the overnight attack.
Sunnatullah Taimoor, the governors’ spokesman, said the militants had taken away five different types of weapons. The injured policemen were taken to hospital in critical condition.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s spokesman, said the fighters attacked a post and killed four policemen and damaged the building in Dasht Qala district. He claimed the militants had snatched four Kalashnikovs and ammunition.
