FEROZKOH (PAJHWOK): Policemen rescued dozens of passengers trapped in a snow-covered area in Lal Sarjangal district on the Kabul Highway, an official said on Sunday.
Muhammad Musa Kalim, the district’s administrative chief, said four vehicles carrying 60 passengers from Kabul to Ghor had been trapped near Kirman area.
Police personnel, he said, rescued the marooned people. He blamed road dilapidated condition for causing problems for travelers. Separately, 50 university students heading to their institutions were stranded near Sarjangal due to heavy snowfall.
Fatima, a student of Bamyan University, said: “We reached Lal and Sarjangal district two days back but could not travel further due to heavy snowfall and closure of road.”
Eng. Khalil Noor, director of public works, said efforts were being made to reopen the road and remove the snow.
