MAIDAN SHARH (Pajhwok): Three civilians and seven armed militants have been killed during separate incidents in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Saturday.
The three civilians were killed and another three were wounded when a Taliban-fired mortar shell hit their house in Meran area of the Daimardad district, the governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The injured had been shifted to hospital and one of them was said to be in critical condition, Attaullah Khogyani added.
Separately, four militants were killed and two others wounded during a security operation in the Nerkh district last night, the gubernatorial spokesman said.
Also on Friday night, he said, a clash between fighters loyal to the Taliban and the Hezb-i-Islami left two armed men dead and as many injured in the Nerkh district’s Hayat area.
Khogyani said the two sides lost one fighter each and one each from both the sides got wounded.
In the Syedabad district, Khogyani said, security forces conducted an operation last night, killing one militant and injuring four others.
On the other hand, the rebels also claimed killing and wounding a number government forces during attacks in various districts of the province.
