District police, admn chiefs wounded in attack

SHAHRAN (Pajhwok): The police chief for Bak Khel district and the town’s administrative chief were wounded in a militants’ attack in southeastern Paktika province, official said Saturday.

Nisar Ahmed Abdul Rahimzai, acting provincial police chief, said the district police chief and district chief were injured in a gun battle on Friday night.

He said that police retaliated the fire and the ensuing firefight left 10 insurgents dead.  However, militants did not comment on the incident so far.

It merits mention that Taliban’s spring offensive codenamed Azm (Determination) started from (Friday) afternoon.
