KABUL and Daesh had no link to Islam.
Imam-i- Kaaba Sheikh Khaled al-Ghamedi has publicly condemned the Taliban and the Islamic State or Daesh’s brutal actions in the name of Islam.
“Those who misinterpret the Quran and apply Quranic verses about infidels on other Muslims and who are quick to call Muslims unbelievers are Khwarij,” the Imam had remarked, saying, “Islam is the religion of peace, brotherhood and compassion.”
Maulvi was a violation of Islamic values and it must end.
“With this gathering we want to condemn the ongoing brutalities. This war between Taliban and the government is political war. Both the sides should put an end to it,” he added.
He asked the government to give religious scholars a prominent role in the peace negotiations. “Both sides of the war are Muslims. They (insurgents) should stop killing innocent people and join the peace process.”
Azizullah Musleh, another scholar, expressed support for the government, saying they wanted peace, justice and end to the conflict. “We still don’t have a prominent role to put the prevalent situation to an end.”
