KABUL has signed cooperation agreements with Uzbekistan in areas of energy, transport, trade, and transit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said Tuesday.
MoFA spokesman Shakib Mustaghni told journalists an Afghan delegation led by Shakir Kargar, president’s special envoy in commonwealth countries, travelled to Tashkent last week. Kargar had signed bilateral agreements with the minister of economy of Uzbekistan.
Mustaghni said the agreements would cease restrictions on trade and transit between the two neighboring countries and Uzbekistan would have a prominent role in assisting Afghanistan with its maiden railroad projects.
Based on agreement, Mustaghni said, Tashkent would also help Kabul in surveying Hairatan-Herat railroad and with the survey of a ring road that connects Mazar-i-Sharif to Herat.
A joint industrial exhibition of the two countries would also be launched in capitals of both countries, and directs flights between Kabul and Tashkent would also resume soon, he concluded.
