TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Four newly-constructed school buildings were put into service in as many districts in northeastern Takhar province on Monday, an official said.
Provincial Rural Development Director Raz Mohammad Faiz told Pajhwok Afghan News the structures had been built in Khwaja Bahauddin, Baharak, Farkhar and Bangi districts.
The buildings cost half a million US dollars, which had been provided by Germany, with local residents contributing 10 percent of the costs, the official said.
He said the said schools had been without buildings and students had to attend classes under the blue skies, beneath trees and in tents.
But the schools remained without boundary walls and toilet, the official said.
