KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A verbal dispute between Attorney General and policemen developed into an armed clash, which ended with the killing of Attorney General and a policeman in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Samim Khpalwak, the governor spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Attorney General Tayabullah exchanged harsh words with policemen. One of the policemen opened fire on Tayabullah leaving him dead on the spot while a policeman was also killed in the ensuing firefight, which left another policeman wounded.
However, it could not be immediately verified what led them to fight verbally, he added.
Zia Durrani, provincial police spokesman, confirmed the incident but could not share details into the incident. Soon after the incident, a delegation reached the spot but had yet to ascertain facts.
The governor’s spokesman said that unidentified gunmen shot dead a policewoman when she was on her way to hospital for treatment.
He said that she succumbed to injuries on her way to hospital. Police had started investigations to find the killers.
